‘With gliding synths and the kind of talented guitar melodies that have a magical appeal, guaranteed to lure you in like the Wicked Witch’ – The Recommender
Formed in mid 2010, London-based Waylayers have set about crafting stunning, atmospheric pop, fusing elements of electronica and indie rock with ethereal vocal lines and hooks.
The band's unique sound quickly caught the attention of the legendary Steve Lamacq who dubbed them ‘unsigned band of the week’ on his 6music show. It was the ensuing buzz that led them to the door of producer Ewan Pearson (Delphic) who instantly recognised the band's ability to put together inspired songs shot through with an effortless pop nous.
Their track Fires was featured on Kitsune Maison's 10th compilation and the band has played a spate of shows in the capital, including Camden’s KoKo, in build up to the release of debut single ‘Hear No Lies’.
Indeed, no track sums up the band’s huge ability more than debut single, ‘Hear No Lies’, with its haunting, layered synths and driving sense of melody; it is a reflective yet powerful statement of intent for a band who look set to do big things over the next 12 months.
